At the end of its first Africa Universities Summit, Times Higher Education has revealed the top 30 African Universities. This selection was made based on the number of publications made by each institution between 2009 and 2013. To be considered, an institution needs to have at least 500 published research papers and respect a minimum of 50 papers per year. Among these 30 institutions, 12 are based in South Africa; only one is based in Uganda and is ranked #3.
