African Anthem for FIFA World Cup 2014

Kenyan Rapper Octopizzo, Uganda’s shining star Lilian Mbabazi, Tanzania’s Diamond, Lady Jaydee, MI, and Nigeria’s Waje and Congo’s Fally Ipupa in collaboration with Brazilian David Corey have released the African anthem for the Fifa World Cup 2014. As well as being good news it’s a good jam!!

It has become a trend for each continent and in some case countries to come out proudly and announce their claim to battle it out for the World Cup. One way of doing this is by releasing an Anthem. Last World cup the continent was famously represented by Knaan’s Waving Flag and this year “The World Is Ours” will do us proud once again. The fact that it has artists from all over Africa is so inspiring and it makes me personally very proud to be associated with the continent. The anthem trend is a way to get the jubilation in relation to the sport even closer to the people, I know I already have it playing on my phone!

An African country is yet to be successful in clinching the coveted trophy but with each passing tournament we progress a step further. With Ghana being infamously eliminated in the quarter finals at South Africa 2010, this year the hunger to get to the semi finals and even further is being felt stronger than ever before.  COME ON AFRICA, the world is ours 🙂
