A TRUE INITIATIVE : THE ARENA

“….credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood;……and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat. – Theodore Roosevelt.

And just like that “The Arena” was born. An initiative started by four young ambitious Kenyans: Tessy Martim, Nyagah Karanja, Zana Kiragu and Joe Murai aka #TheATeam. The Arena is a platform designed to enable young people to realize their potential early in life. During the launch there were young Kenyans showcasing their businesses and entrepreneurship skills as well as inspiring members of the society urging those in attendance to dive into the arena and pursue their dreams, relentlessly.”

As The Arena was only launched this year, whether it shall be as revolutionary as many of us would like it to be, is anybody’s guess. Their aim to empower university students both international and local to go beyond the class room in respect to learning. Venture out into the real world and gain first hand experience. Additionally, one of the main aims of the Arena is to show that the only way to succeed it together through networking. This is exhibited as part of their vision and is a fundamental part of their whole operation.


This week The Arena launched a new program dubbed THE MENTOR. It is their latest project designed to give young people in business the opportunity to sit down with an accomplished entrepreneur and glean valuable information about business and enterprise. The mentees will be able to interact with relevant entrepreneurs to learn how to apply for licences’, how to source raw materials, how to get a company seal etc. Who knows, this program could give birth to the next Aliko Dangote!!
